Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use my NDIS plan to access exercise physiology services?
Yes—if you have a self-managed or plan-managed NDIS plan, you may be able to use your funding to access our services. While we are not a registered NDIS provider, many of our clients use their funding for exercise physiology to support their physical health, motor development, and functional goals. We can provide service agreements and invoices that meet the requirements for self- or plan-managed claims.
If you are not self or plan-managed and would like to access our services, please contact your Local Area Coordinator (LAC).
How can an exercise physiologist benefit me or my child with Autism?
Exercise physiology can support children and adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) by improving motor planning, coordination, strength, and balance. Physical activity has also been shown to help with emotional regulation, concentration, and social engagement. Our sessions are tailored to the individual—incorporating their interests, sensory needs, and communication preferences to make movement fun, purposeful, and meaningful. Goals might include participating in play, sport, school activities, or improving independence in daily tasks.
How does exercise help children with Developmental Coordination Disorder (DCD)?
Children with DCD often struggle with balance, timing, and coordination. Our exercise programs focus on building foundational motor patterns through fun, task-specific activities that support strength, balance, and spatial awareness. This helps children feel more confident participating in school, play, and everyday tasks like dressing or climbing stairs.
Can exercise help with sensory processing difficulties?
Absolutely. Many of our activities are designed to support sensory integration by combining movement with tactile, vestibular, and proprioceptive input. We tailor sessions to meet each child’s sensory profile—whether they seek or avoid certain types of input—and gradually build tolerance, regulation, and body control through movement.
Can exercise be done without going to the gym?
Yes. At Emerge Movement Pty Ltd, we specialise in delivering mobile services—meaning we come to you. Whether it’s your home, school, park, or local community space, we bring all the equipment and expertise needed to run safe, effective, and engaging sessions.
How quickly can I expect to see results from the exercise intervention?
Everyone progresses at their own pace. After your initial consultation and assessment, we’ll set measurable goals together and review them regularly. Consistency is key, and you can expect to see gradual improvements in strength, movement quality, confidence, and engagement over time.
How do I pay for exercise physiology services?

Medicare Chronic Disease Management Plan (via GP referral)
Private health insurance
DVA Gold and White Cards (with GP referral)
